The Air Max 90 is known as an icon and a shoe that since its first release has been updated and reworked with brand new materials, colourways and its also seen its fair share of collabs. In celebration with the 30th Anniversary of the silhouette, the Swoosh brand look back at the original DNA and have recrafted it for 2020. Originally designed by Tinker Hatfield as a running, performance style shoe that was inspired by Italian sports cars, today this silhouette has made its mark as a streetwear staple.

The Air Max 2090 is a brand new silhouette that looks to the future but also nods to the OG AM90. Set to release in Spring, the design process used was the same technique from 30 years ago, looking into the evolution of car design to create this super streamlined, sleek sneaker. Nike kept the signature features intact including the framing around the Air window. The futuristic-looking sneaker features 200% more air in the Air unit for added cushion with a lightweight textile taking over the upper. An oversized pull tab sits above the heel which is updated with a new style logo. Catch a look at the silhouette below, is this a cop or drop?

The Nike Air Max Verona is a women’s exclusive silhouette that’s all about bringing attitude to your everyday looks. The Air Verona features a unique squared-off heel for a bold look. The outsole has also been updated with detailing for traction with ‘air’ printed onto the heel of the sole. Framing around the Air unit looks to the AM90 for inspiration with the chunky squared heel for a bold touch. Extra embroidered detailing decorates the upper which is crafted from a durable textile with a soft, feminine colour palette and pastel makeup.

The third and final silhouette is the Air Max 90 Flyease. This sneaker has to be one of the standout shoes from the pack with the crazy heel that makes them super easy to slip on and off. The flexible heel is crafted from a soft textile and folds down with an oversized heel clip. The rest of the shoe resembles the classic ’90 look with lightweight mesh across the toe box and leather panelling stretching across the sidewalls. This unisex dark blue and luminous pink colourway is set to release later this season so keep it locked to The Sole Womens if this one of a kind sneaker is on your must-cop list.
