Paige - Content Writer
“Let me tell you, I am so glad I sized down.”
Paige – our Content Writer – says: “At the start of lockdown last year, I (like everyone else in the world) started investing in more comfy clothing and tracksuits. My entire wardrobe is full of Nike, so I wanted to switch things up. Enter: FOG ESSENTIALS. The earthy hues caught my eye right away, so I waited patiently for a restock and bagged the light brown hoodie and matching joggers. I like my casualwear to be baggy and comfy so I usually go for a women’s medium or men’s large, but I’d heard that ESSENTIALS pieces run a little large so I went for a small in the joggers and hoodie. Let me tell you, I am so glad I sized down. Although still baggy and comfortable, the small teeters on the edge of “frumpy” and too baggy, even for my liking. I could have gone for an XS in the joggers, but the oversized hoodie in a small will be perfect in the spring with some bike shorts.”
Tegan - Head of Creative
With less of a penchant for extra-baggy fits, Tegan – our Head of Creative – sits at a happy small in Nike tracksuits. She was definitely in for a shock when she ordered her first ESSENTIALS pieces…
“If I were getting the joggers or cycling shorts, I’d go for an XS without hesitation.”
“My First undefined purchase was the triple-black long-sleeved tee. I usually get an XL in silhouettes like this from Stussy or Palace as I like to wear them as T-shirt dress with boots in the autumn. So, I went for L with ESSENTIALS, knowing it was oversized, but I didn’t know just how oversized. I didn’t do my research properly, that was an error! The L literally swamped me, I couldn’t make it work so I ended up returning it and going for a small the next time. It’s still huge, definitely big enough to pass as a dress. If I were getting the joggers or cycling shorts, I’d go for an XS without hesitation.”
Kelly - Content Writer
Kelly, another Content Writer here at TSW, usually opts for slim-fit tops with baggy joggers. “I love my joggers to be really loose and comfy. With Nike, I usually go for a large and fold the cuffs or a medium if I want them a little tighter around my waist. Fear of God’s ESSENTIALS range is made to be super relaxed and oversized, so the joggers are right up my street. I go for a medium in the sweatpants so I can customise the fit with the drawstring, but I just steer clear of the hoodies, sweatshirts and tees – they’re all a little to baggy for my style!”
“You can either rock the baggy look or size down to match your personal style!”
Fear of God ESSENTIALS: General Thoughts
The general consensus is that Fear of God’s ESSENTIALS range runs big, but the brand’s aesthetic is oversized and baggy. You can either rock the baggy look or size down to match your personal style! With loads of restocks and new styles landing, you won’t regret getting your hands on some pieces from this collection.
