As it’s coming to the end of 2019 we decided to take a look back at what a crazy year it’s been for sneaker releases! From new silhouettes to statement colourways, 2019 has been a great year for sneakers. We caught up with female sneakerhead, @snkrsangel to find out what her thoughts on this years must cop releases were with some insight into her most loved silhouette and how the female sneaker culture has changed.

What has been your favourite sneaker release of the year?
My favourite sneaker release of the year is Air Jordan 1 Retro High UNC. The patent leather makes these sneakers very unique and the colourway is so great looking.
If you could only wear one pair of sneakers for the next 5 years, what would it be and why?
If I could only wear one pair of sneaker for the next 5 years it would be white Air force 1 low in my everyday rotation. The more I wear them, the more comfortable they get and Air Force 1 Low can work with almost any clothing styles from skinny jeans and thick joggers to bodycon dress.
What’s the one pair of sneakers you always wanted but have never copped?
Air Jordan 1 Retro high Travis Scott caught my eyes even before the release and I couldn’t get them because of high demand. If a magician granted me one wish about sneakers, I would ask Air Jordan 1 Retro high Travis Scott at the moment.
What is a pair of sneakers you think everyone needs in their rotation?
Since health is the number one priority in life I think everyone needs training shoes in their rotation. They provide protection for a variety of fitness activity.
Do you think the female sneaker culture has changed at all this year?
From my perspective, female sneaker culture is changing gradually. Sneaker culture always focused on male and everything centred around men’s taste and men’s sizes. But this year I have seen a lot of girls styling themselves in dope sneakers and brands are beginning to pay attention and starting to collaborate more with women than before. Also, sneaker enthusiasts like me forced to buy grade school sneakers for the most part but this year brands released many styles in different colourways for women which makes me think ”The future of sneakers is female”.
